Remembering Peter Stubbs
Peter, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather (affectionately known as Poppy), dedicated his life to providing ample opportunities for those he cherished. Throughout his career, marked by arduous and demanding jobs, he consistently prioritized being present for his family during his days off.
Peter derived immense joy from spending time on his boat, tinkering in his workshop, and engaging in lively conversations over a beer or two with family and friends. He possessed a remarkable ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and was always ready with a new story to share.
A natural leader with a robust work ethic, Peter had little tolerance for inefficiency. He was known for his reliability in completing tasks both efficiently and effectively, often accompanied by a hearty laugh once the work was done. His problem-solving skills, whether attributed to his resolute nature or his "get things done" attitude, were exceptional, and he was someone upon whom one could always depend.
Peter's battle with a rare and aggressive form of glioblastoma was brief, yet even as he struggled with the effects of his illness, he remained deeply concerned for others, ensuring their wellbeing. He faced his illness with remarkable dignity and authenticity, continuing to share jokes even in the hospital hours before his passing.
One of Peter’s final wishes was to advocate for cancer research and to encourage others to seek medical advice if they sense something is amiss, as early detection might have altered his own outcome.
Peter is survived by his wife, Donna, his children, Jade, Jason, Sheena, and Chelsea, and a large extended family who will deeply miss their beloved Poppy.
