Remembering Leigh Siddens

Dad was a one of a kind father, husband, Son, brother and friend. He was beautiful man with a big smile. Anyone who knew Dad immediately found a soft spot in their hearts for him. I never knew the strength Dad had until I watched him over the last 10 months. Dad was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma in mid May 2021. He had no symptoms previous to a seizure he had on what he thought was a regular Friday at work. Dad was taken to hospital and almost 2 weeks later was diagnosed with a stage 4 Brain cancer. Brain cancer took him away from us in the short period of 10 months. Dad was a fighter but he was up against something stronger then him. Dad was previously a fit and healthy 47 year old who took pride in his health. Brain cancer was the last thing anyone expected. Dad had a lot to live for, he was in the prime of his life planning and saving for retirement so him and mum could go road tripping around Australia. Dad has 2 kids, me being 20 and my brother being only 15. To loose a father at this age to this Illness has been traumatic and something I will never forget. Since he was diagnosed dad never looked sick, he never whinged or complained no matter how bad he was feeling he was only ever worried about how we were feeling. He was my biggest role model and I am so so proud to be his daughter. In honour of his memory instead of flowers (dad hated flowers) we would like to ask friends and family for donations to hopefully one day find a cure and help patients and their families living with brain cancer so they don’t have to go through the pain of losing a loved one to this terrible illness.
