Remembering Joel de Witte
Remembering Joel de Witte
Story
Joel was a wonderful father, loving husband, son, brother, loyal friend and downright amazing human.
Joel was diagnosed with a grade 4 Glioblastoma multiforme in June 2018. He fought his diagnosis swinging and never gave up. He went through 3 craniotomies, radiation, numerous cycles of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. He was supported every step of the way by his family and friends. Joel loved living and people loved him - he fought for all of us.
He lost his battle on 18 February 2021 surrounded by those who loved him the most. He leaves behind shattered hearts. May he Rest In Peace.
We have set up this page to help contribute to finding a cure for brain cancer. The current prognosis for brain cancer patients is horrid with the average survival time being 12-18 months. Only 25% of glioblastoma patients survive more that one year and we were incredibly lucky to have Joel with us for 2.5 years post diagnosis. We hope that by raising money in memory of Joel we can contribute to research and help change these statics.
Love Char, James and our families x
